hello!
I’m Khadijah, the overambitious home cook behind Deejah Dishes. Yes, I fully committed to an alliterative bastardisation of my name, it was either this or a painfully generic one like "Khadijah’s Kitchen".
But anyway - food! I love eating it, obviously, but I think I love teaching people how to cook even more. To borrow from that one French chef in Ratatouille — “Anyone can cook.” And I mean that. Cooking isn’t some exclusive club for professionals with fancy knives and mysterious weird pantry ingredients. It’s not a skill you’re either born with or forever doomed to lack. If you can follow directions (and occasionally trust your instincts), you can cook. Simple as that.
My goal is to give clear, detailed instructions so you never feel lost in the kitchen. This blog is for broke uni students trying to avoid the “instant noodles and vibes” diet. It’s for busy people who want to stop haemorrhaging money on takeaways. It’s for total beginners who count boiling pasta as a personal achievement. If that’s you (or even if it’s not), you’re in the right place.
I’m not a perfect cook, and I won’t pretend to be. I have made a ton of mistakes, but I’ll always show you how I fix them, so you don’t have to waste as much flour, oil, or dignity as I have.
Got a request? A burning cooking question? Just wanna rant about how expensive food is these days? My DMs and inbox are always open. Let’s make great food together. <3
